Task Workspaces
Capture a focused task, share it as a bundle, and restore its files.
A Task Workspace captures one focused piece of work, meaning what needs doing, how to reproduce it, and the files involved, so you can hand it to a teammate or pick it up yourself later. It works locally, with no AI and no account needed.
Open it from its icon in the activity bar, or View → Task Workspaces.
Capture a task
- Click New task.
- Fill in the objective, acceptance criteria, reproduction or setup notes, decisions made so far, and open questions.
- Select the files the task needs. Files you have open are suggested; save any unsaved ones first. You can also include saved scenarios.
- Click Capture task, and check what was captured.
Share it
Export bundle saves the task as a .lamied-task.json file wherever you choose. Send it the way you'd share any file.
A bundle holds the task's notes, the selected files with checksums, the repository, branch and commit it was captured from, and any scenarios. It never includes your whole repository, sign-ins, permissions or absolute paths from your computer.
Import and restore
- Open the project you're restoring into.
- Click Import bundle. Lamied checks the file's format and checksums. Importing never changes your files, switches branches, installs anything or runs code.
- Click Preview file restore. Each file is marked new, identical or conflicting. Nothing is selected for you.
- Compare conflicts, select exactly the files you want, and confirm Restore selected files.
Your original files are backed up before anything is replaced. If the bundle was captured from a different commit, you're warned first. A restore replaces whole files; it isn't a merge.
Manage tasks
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Edit & recapture | Replaces the task's saved snapshot. Export first if you want to keep the old one. |
| Delete local task | Removes only the task record. Your files, exported bundles and backups stay. |
Limits
Up to 40 files of 512 KB each, 20 scenarios, and 8 MB per bundle; up to 100 tasks per workspace. Binary files, .git and symbolic links can't be captured.
