Files and workspaces

Open folders and files, create new ones, save, auto save, and work in several windows.

A workspace is the folder you open in Lamied, usually your project's root. Explorer, Search, Source Control, the terminal and the AI assistant all work inside it.

Auto SaveTurn automatic saving on or off (a checkmark shows it's on).
QuitCtrlQClose Lamied.

On macOS, use Cmd wherever these pages say Ctrl. Every command is also in the Command Palette.

Explorer

Open Explorer with CtrlShiftE or its icon in the activity bar on the left. Click a file to open it in a tab. Right-click in the file tree for file and folder actions. Explorer always shows every file on disk, including ones excluded from AI indexing with .lmignore.

Auto Save

Auto Save is on by default. About one second after you stop typing, the file is saved and the dot on its tab disappears. Nothing is shown when a save succeeds; if one fails, the reason appears in the Output panel.

Turn it off with File → Auto Save. Lamied remembers your choice. With Auto Save off, save with CtrlS.

Tabs

Each open file has a tab. A dot means the file has unsaved changes. Close the active tab with CtrlW.

Several windows

File → New Window opens another window. Each window has its own workspace, terminal, AI conversation and language servers.
